Social change will only happen when it becomes more convenient to adopt “green” policies and products than not. Big groups and companies lie. Science lies. That’s why so much of western culture is built around kneejerk reactions to events rather than planned proactivity based on theory.
Get as high up on your soapbox as you can. Use air-tight school logic. Market it like crazy.
Won’t change behavior until the threat is real or society makes it real by proxy. Can you say “gas prices” currently? For all the stumping and stomping politicians and protesters have done, it’s the squeeze at the pump that’s changing behavior the most.
Also, even if the logic is sound and followed, the huge uncertainty from the scientific community and the adversarial exchanges about what causes global warming specifically makes it near impossible for the general public to figure out what to do. Reduce carbon emissions. We ARE carbon. Reduce production. We ARE the means of production. Great plan.

I appreciate you stopping by and thanks for the excellent comment! You’re so right about the general public not changing until the threat is real, or at the very least, “going green” becomes convenient. Hopefully we don’t all wait until the extreme happens before we decide that it’s “worth it to us”.

It’s almost like we need to somehow simulate the cataclysmic events that would happen according to the theory (if that ever becomes solidified itself). I’m thinking about nuclear holocaust… people were scared witless when they saw first the tests and then Fat Man and Little Boy. We’re still terrified, like now with Iran. If it’s going to be fear of human actions resulting in a global disaster we need to effect change, we need video. Run an accelerated test in a biosphere or something, show it in time lapse. That’ll get people hoarding supplies and going solar.
